So I’m getting a little bit tired of winter. Today, I had to fight with the lovely Cleveland weather numerous times: from getting into school late because snow has taken over the parking at school to getting stuck in driveways and sliding down the roads, I feel I’ve had just about enough. The past few days, I’ve been desperately dreaming of all the wonderful things spring brings. I’ve found myself longing for the warm, 40 degree weather and a little less than twelve feet of snow to climb through every day. But since we still have quite a large chunk of winter ahead of us, I’ve made it my goal to decrease the winter blues and think of some interesting, exciting activities to do. After thorough research, I’ve discovered a few things I never knew Ohio had to offer. At Van Buren Park, adventures can spend the day identifying hibernating trees by their bark, a talent that could most definitely come in handy. Individuals could also visit Hueston Woods, where they can go on a Winter Bird Hike. However, if one plans to attend this, they should remember to wear appropriate clothing, as light winds on a 32 degree day can still lead to hypothermia and frostbite. Or, you could venture to any one of a various ice fishing spots all across the state. I hope these ideas inspire you to get out and enjoy all of the wonderful things Ohio has to offer, even in the slightly dreary winter months.

Brooke, I never knew winter in Cleveland had so much to offer! As tempting as it is to risk frostbite searching for winter birds, I think I would much rather keep my toes and stay indoors, even if it does result in a drastic decrease in my Vitamin D. Luckily, the groundhog saw it's shadow or something, so we only have to endure this weather for 6 MORE WEEKS!
ReplyDeleteBrooke, I too have found myself growing tired of the winter weather. To be perfectly honest, I am basically done with snow after Christmas. So it goes without saying that this ice and snow combination that has been thrown at us is not exactly welcome in my mind. I think that it is great that you have found a positive outlet for these "winter blues". I would also like to add to your list a local favorite, sledding in the metro parks. I think that I might actually go sledding this weekend instead of sulking in my house and avoiding the outdoors. I think that it is a great way to enjoy the winter and even have a flashback to childhood.
