Blogging!
In class lately, we have been discussing random stresses in the wonderful world that is AP English. This caused me to reflect back and compare how much more worried I was about discussions and in-class writing last year. Throughout these conversations, I felt that I had, overall, made progression in these worries since junior year. However, looking back on my first blog post makes me reconsider this. As a whole, the class became nervous at the prospect of these blogs at the start- my first post is an analysis of The Namesake that could have come straight out of an in-class essay. I clearly remember that familiar panic setting in as I began to write that blog, totally convinced I was doing it completely wrong. Since then, though, I feel, as a class, we have again progressed. The blogs have become an outlet for interesting, thought-provoking discussion instead of a place to just continue literary analysis from class. This seems to parallel these discussions themselves- I find myself truly interested by the depth of discussion we reach in class and how passionate we become over fictional happenings. And with this change comes much more interesting blogs- people feel more comfortable to experiment with topics and ideas as they worry less about making mistakes and more about what they want to write about at that moment. The blogging project has provided a way for the fun of English to continue 24/7, along with fascinating perspectives we have previously only experienced in class.

Brooke, I completely agree with you! These blogs have opened the door for such interesting, thought-provoking discussions. However, I still feel pressure when I write these blogs because everyone in AP English is very intelligent! I constantly worry about the creativity of my blog and coming up with something "smart" to say in order to keep up with my fellow classmates.
